|Titel||A Comprehensive Overview of Global Biodiversity Finance|
The implementation of an effective global framework for biodiversity will require not only ambitious and widespread biodiversity policy instruments and other measures to promote sustainable production and consumption patterns. It will also require governments and the private sector to increase funding for biodiversity and reduce financial flows that are damaging to biodiversity. But little information is available on recent spending on biodiversity. Building on the 2019 OECD Report to G7 Environment Ministers on “Biodiversity: Finance and the Business and Economic Case for Action”, which provided a preliminary update on global biodiversity finance flows, this report aims to fill this information gap by providing a more comprehensive overview and aggregated estimate of global biodiversity finances. The report also provides an overview of government support that is potentially harmful to biodiversity and makes recommendations for improving the assessment, tracking and reporting of biodiversity finances.
